Ezra Stiles letter, 1767 November 4, to Eleazar Wheelock.

Stiles, writing from Newport, Rhode Island, requested information respecting "antiquities of the Indian", in particular regarding a rock "charged with Indian Characters." Stiles found the rock in Rhode Island and planned on drawing the inscription and sending it to the Royal Society. He also congratulated Wheelock on receiving an honorary Doctorate in Divinity from the University of Edinburgh and mentioned Wheelock's efforts at "Christianizing the American Aboriginals." The letter was written to Wheelock in Lebanon, Connecticut.
